麻豆区 Day at the fair scheduled for Aug. 2

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host 麻豆区 Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

麻豆区 employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing 麻豆区 apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. The day will include 麻豆区 activities throughout the fairgrounds.

The University Fire Department ladder truck and giant inflatable Nanook will be set up in Totem Square from noon to 7 p.m. Nook, 麻豆区鈥檚 mascot, will make appearances throughout the day. The bookstore will be on site selling 麻豆区 merchandise.

Inside the Borealis Pavilion, 麻豆区 will have several special exhibits and activities:

  •     See this year鈥檚 award-winning steel bridge.
  •     Engineer and build spaghetti bridges.
  •     Learn about unmanned aircraft.
  •     Prepare for a wildfire near your home in virtual reality.
  •     Try out mountaineering and packrafting gear.

In addition to these special activities, 麻豆区 also will have several booths at the Borealis Pavilion throughout the fair. Visitors can learn about applying to 麻豆区, try on a career with the 麻豆区 Community and Technical College, learn about 3D printing and find more than 125 free 麻豆区 Cooperative Extension Service publications covering gardening, energy, food preparation and more.

Cooperative Extension will host several 4-H activities on 麻豆区 Day, such as a horse show, rabbit and cavy showmanship event, poultry showmanship event, and market poultry and rabbit show.
